01. Unofficial Okemo Returns for the 24/25 Season!
Welcome back, Unofficianados! It's Abby here and I'm thrilled to be back writing to all of you. We missed you...did you miss us? We are so incredibly stoked to announce the return of our 3rd season here at Unofficial Okemo. 3️⃣🩷
In today's free pre-season report, we will share our big changes including our new snow report subscription, details on our new ski outfits and shred sticks, our new local and gear partners, and our plans to offer up the most snow reporting content we've ever done. 🤯
Ski season is truly right around the corner, even if it doesn't feel like it quite yet. Okemo Mountain's projected opening date is currently set for Friday, November 22nd, weather permitting of course. 🌡️ You'll be surprised how fast the Snowmaking and Mountain Ops Teams can get a ski trail open for us to shred. As soon as Old Man Winter decides to enter the group chat, those guns will be blazing around the clock. Over the weekend, we saw the guns turn on for the first time as they made snow on Sapphire, Upper World Cup, and Nor'Easter! The Clocktower Base Area saw some snowmaking testing done with the new Fan Guns. What a sight to see. We will be reporting which trails are set to open so that you can begin planning your ski day at Okemo. 🎿
Sit back, relax, grab a Hot Cocoa (or Hot Toddy...or Hot Dog), and enjoy the Unofficial Update. ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️
🚨 UNOFFICIAL OKEMO'S TOP 10 NEWS-WORTHY ITEMS 🚨
- 🗞️ Now Offering Both FREE and PAID Subscription Options: We never imagined our little passion project would grow to this scale! With over 1,500 subscribers and close to 10k followers now, this community has exceeded our expectations. Due to our growth, we've felt the pressure and demand to keep up with posting daily snow report content, which means it's time to take this seriously, or as seriously as we can. We know many of you rely on our reports and find them valuable (and kinda funny). During the off-season, we made the decision to begin charging for our snow reports for the first time. Simply, operating Unofficial Okemo is expensive and we ran out of our fun money years ago. It's time we look at this more than a hobby, it's a business. We want to continue offering our beloved snow reports, and charging for them is the only way we can do this. With the help of our partnership funds, Noah and I can finally let the business pay for itself. Our pre-season special is now live, otherwise our paid subscription is $5/month or $55/year. You can cancel at any time. Learn more about what the difference between the FREE and PAID subscription offers. Thank you so much for understanding.
- 🎉 Pre-Season Subscription Special: To celebrate our new subscription options and to kick-off the ski season, we are running a limited-time offer deal! For just $24.25, you can subscribe to Unofficial Okemo for the ENTIRE YEAR. That's nearly 50% off folks! Please consider supporting us and help us start the season off strong. ✨ CLICK HERE TO GET THE DEAL ✨
- ✋ Five Snow Reports a Week: With the help of our amazing local business partners, we can now commit to offering FIVE reports a week throughout the season! This will be the most rigorous ski reporting schedule of all time, and we are ready for it. Noah and Abby will be spending a lot more days on the slopes together capturing all the content you need and want. Subscribe now!
- 📱 Even More Social Content: Our Instagram popped off last season. We had a blast creating videos for you and we will continue to do that this season. Expect more video content covering all things skiing at Okemo (includes apres, shopping, favorite ski trails, tips, tricks, and so much more). Follow us!
- 😎 Bonus Summer Reports: You've asked, and we (finally) listened. We are committing to writing at least one snow report a month throughout the summertime! We hope to bring you more than that, but baby steps, right? All subscribers will receive the full summer report, so join now for updates around Ludlow, Okemo, and all things summer adventure (which is mostly Noah biking while Abby tans by the Jackson Gore pool).
- 🛍️ New Gear for Abby & Noah: We are honored to partner with Helly Hansen and Nordica again this year! Abby is riding the Nordica Santa Ana 92 this year, and Noah is back on the Nordica Enforcer 94. The 2025 lineup has the best graphics in the game IMO. Plus, they are entirely different skis with an unlocked tail and terrain-specific metal. As for outerwear, we will be bundled up in the 2025 HH Collection featuring Lifaloft™️ and Helly Tech Technologies™️ for the warmest, sturdiest, and most practical gear for both uphill and downhill skiing. You can shop both of these brands at most local ski shops in Ludlow. Thanks Helly Hansen & Nordica!
- 🧶 Welcoming Our New Gear Partner: We are so excited to share that we have partnered with Skida! I'm sure you're all already aware this Vermont owned and operated company. They are famous for their colorful patterned neckies, gators, and balaclavas. You'll see us wearing some of their new patterns this year and other cozy headwear. To celebrate, Skida is giving our community a special discount! Use code UNOFFICIALOKEMO for 15% off your order at www.skida.com. Thanks Skida!
- 👚 No Merch This Season: We don't have any plans to launch new merch this year, but you could potentially see an item or two come back. I SAID POTENTIALLY.....
- 🍫 Abby's Pocket Snack Affiliate: Probably the best news ever, Abby's dreams of getting Aloha Protein Bars on board to sponsor UO has finally happened. These plant-based & organic bars single-handedly got her through last season on the slopes. She's addicted to the Chocolate PB, it's a problem. Use our link to get 20% off your first order. ✨ We highly recommend starting with the Sample Pack to find your fav flavor.
- 🐶 New Unofficial Mascots: Please help us in welcoming Wink, Noah's one-eyed cat and Ruby, Abby's strange-looking Dachshund Pit Mix, as they are inducted into our UO Mascot Club! They will be joining Maple in their quest to be the cutest pets of all time (which isn't hard to do TBH).
SO, WHAT'S NEXT??? ⏭️
Our readers can expect to see our first official snow report launch on Okemo's Opening Day. This will be a mid-morning report because we won't be uphill skiing just yet. Until then, we will post updates on our social channels. We will also begin announcing our 24/25 Season Local Business Partners! You can find us at The Boot Pro getting our skis, boots, and footbeds dialed for the season. We will also likely be grabbing a bite at The Loft or a drink at the Main + Mountain Miracle Bar, opening after Thanksgiving!
For now, sit tight until our first report hits your inbox and upgrade to receive the full report. 😊
If you've made it this far, let's catch up a bit more:
This summer was beautifully busy, making up for a drag of a Vermont summer last year. ☔️ Noah got married to his long-time partner, Rachel, in October! Their summer revolved around wedding plans, bachelorettes, bachelor parties, lots of family time in Maine, and snuggling with their new cat, Wink. Abby and her husband Danny continued renovating their home here in Ludlow, adopted a Dachshund Pit Mix 🐶 named Ruby, visited Colorado, Rhode Island, Maine, and Boston. Noah biked, a lot. Abby tanned, a lot. Noah ate 1,000 hot dogs. Abby drank 1,000 iced matchas.
What about you?? Tell us about your favorite summer highlight in the comments below. 👇
