03. Wednesday, November 27th, 2024: Okemo's Opening Announcement
Snowmaking Update at Okemo Mountain on 11/24/24

The moment you've all been waiting for is finally here! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ We are beyond thrilled to finally announce in today's free report that Okemo Mountain's Official Opening Day for the 24/25 ski season is scheduled for Sunday, December 1st! Join us for the first chair at 9am and enjoy top-to-bottom skiing and riding in just 4 days! โ„๏ธ

Compared to previous years, this is definitely a delayed opening for Okemo and I'm sure they are bummed about it just as much as we are. Know that they have been trying to do the delicate dance with Mother Nature when it comes to snowmaking... but the variable temps, wet weather, and warm afternoons have been a struggle, but we're on the other side of it now and we will be skiing soon! ๐Ÿ‘

Keep reading below to find out what to expect on Okemo's Opening Day. Who's ready to rip with us??? ๐Ÿ‚โ›ท๏ธ

Don't miss out on our first full snow report on December 1st! You must upgrade now for the entire year for just $24.25!!!! ๐ŸŽ‰

Shoutout to our Super Supporters: Christine & John Elliot, Lauren McCarthy & Ben Donohue, and Gloria & Tim Katsiff! If you want to support us even more, โœจ upgrade to a Super Supporter โœจ today for a shoutout (and street cred).

We won't know which trails are open until we get there, but based on previous year's data, we can expect to ski top-to-bottom via Countdown โžก๏ธ Upper World Cup โžก๏ธ Lower Chief or Lower World Cup โžก๏ธ Open Slope. Also, they have been blowing snow on Nor'Easter, Sapphire, and Arrow so that could possibly be another trail option to spread guests out a bit. Open Slope will be open for beginners off of A & B Quad, and will also allow access to the base. ๐Ÿ‘

You can expect the Sunburst Six โ˜€๏ธ6๏ธโƒฃ to spin for summit access on Sunday, but it's unlikely any other summit lifts will be open...it's just not necessary. It should go without saying but the Sunshine Quad at SouthFace, the Solitude Express Quad, and Sachem Quad are very unlikely to open this weekend for the owners in these neighborhoods. We do know Okemo wants owners and guests to have their ski-in/ski-out access, so just sit tight and they'll get these open ASAP. โค๏ธ

Pro Tip: You don't want to be that guy that gets hurt on the first day. Take it easy, enjoy the ride, and be cautious of others. Thank you.

It's obvious, but must be stated for anyone who hasn't been in Vermont this month, that we have received 0" of natural snow accumulation. None. Nada. Zip. We've had only the lightest trace of snowflakes, but it doesn't even compare to the dust pile up under my TV stand. ๐Ÿ“บ So, please remember to thank a Snowmaker if you see them on Opening Day, because they've been either preparing to make snow or actually making snow every chance they get. Literally around-the-clock. โฐ

Pro Tip: Be sure to schedule in a little Sunday Aprรจs and head to Main + Mountain's Miracle on Main Street Pop-Up Cocktail Bar! Grab a small bite, a craft cocktail, and surround yourself in the holiday spirit.

We nearly forgot to mention that there is an ACTUAL SNOW STORM COMING TOMORROW!!! The Okemo Valley could see 4 to 8 inches of freshies, which would really put me in the holiday spirit and give a boost to Okemo's Snowmaking Team. Let's hope the temps stays low for a white Thanksgiving. ๐ŸŒจ๏ธโ„๏ธโ˜ƒ๏ธ

The upcoming snowfall makes me think that Unofficial Okemo needs our very own SNOW STAKE. ๐Ÿ“ Do we have any crafty followers that would want to fashion one for us?? Let us know in the comments below. ๐Ÿ‘‡ We can talk payment... (only if you accept saltines from the Summit Lodge or free waffle coupons)...

Also, Uphill Travel is NOT permitted at this time. Please wait for Okemo to announce that they've given us the green light to begin skinning. We will let you know as soon as they do! For now, you could prepare by doing 1-hour on the treadmill at the Spring House at a speed of 3 miles and 12% incline. IYKYK. ๐ŸŽฟ

In closing, also like to mention that yes, Killington Mountain is open, and we think that is so awesome. ๐Ÿค˜ Many like to compare The Beast to Okemo, especially when it comes to who can open the fastest. When looking at elevation, Killington sits at 4,241 feet while Okemo sits at 3,344 feet. That's quite a difference when considering most early-season storms only take shape at higher elevation. If you've skied Killington already, let us know in the comments and tell us how many days you have under your belt! ๐Ÿ˜Š
