57. Monday, January 29th

Welcome back to another week of Unofficial Okemo! It's Abby with your Monday morning snow report. The mountain got a casual 7 inches of new snow overnight, so Danny and I took an hour off to enjoy the slopes together. ❄️ I was going to do a Stowe Snow Report today, but Mother Nature had other plans for me. Enjoy today's snow day report at the motherland, Okemo Mountain. 🤘

Ludlow woke up to a snowy surprise with several inches in the village and more up top! 🌨️ It's a winter wonderland with snow-covered trees and deep glades, just how I like it. We began our morning at Jackson Gore, which I wouldn't have recommended today because there weren't any ungroomed trails open. On a powder day, I typically like to hit White Lightning first, but since it wasn't open, we took Sunset Strip to Exhibition. The corduroy is supreme, even though I was looking for pow, I couldn't be upset. My skis felt like a warm knife carving through butter, it was glorious. 🧈

If you didn't know, the groomers move left to right across the mountain each night, which means they start with SouthFace and end with Jackson Gore.🐱 This is why trails like Quantum Leap and Limelight don't have any powder on them on days like today. It is dependent on the time of when the snow falls, but the snow stopped before the groomers got there. It's good to know for those who don't love deep pow.

Today's Quick Facts:

🏔️ Trail Count: 111/122

🚡 Lift Count: 12/20

⛷️Today's Ski: Nordica Santa Ana

🎿 Today's Boot: Nordica Dobermann 5

🧤 Today's Gear: Helly Hansen Powderqueen Set + Heated Socks 🔥

I did find powder on Lower Tomahawk, which by the time I got there, it was bumped up, but the snow is so light and fluffy that my Santa Ana's were just crushing through it. 🚤 The Whistler glades however were perfection. With very few tracks, we were enjoying fresh powder runs through the wide openings. This is a great glades trail for beginner tree skiers! It's one of my favorites, too.

Pro Tip: The glades have the powder today!

A few other trails to note were Exhibition, but specifically the top-section. It was groomed to a crisp and had a nice layer of freshies on top. Chef's kiss! 💋 The bottom section was not as soft, but the pow on the left was a treat. Heaven's Gate was heavenly, but Screamin' Demon was weirdly icy and firm. Village Run, while very brown from the cats, is always groomed so nicely if you need to cut back over to Solitude (especially when Evergreen Express isn't open yet). It's also a great beginner trail! Jack-a-lope was extra sketchy today, so be careful to those heading back to Jackson Gore. 😳

Let us know where else you found powder today! We'd love to hear from you. 👏
