Good morning vacationers! đď¸ This is Abby with your morning report. I feel like I need to start this epilogue with an apology for our lack of content this week. Between Noahâs busy operations for his company, Open Door Vacation Rentals, and running my graphic design business, Wavy Grape, along with my involvement in many local boards, like the Ludlow Farmers Market (reopening this Memorial Day!) itâs been a busy week, to say the least. We are very much NOT on vacation like most of you, so enjoy it for us. đ
Â
A few quick updates:
1. Little Mexicoâs steak & chicken fajitas are off the charts.
2. Iâve found my new calling: XC Skiing, after a night at the Viking Nordic Center.
3. We still have merch & posters for sale!
4. Okemo has been busy, but they are crushing it.
5. Maple has lost approximately one pound on her new vet-ordered doggy diet.
6. Noah apologizes for forgetting to post last Sundayâs report.
7. Okemo Mountain School has two big competitions upcoming (read below).
Â
We plan to roll out snow reports through the weekend thanks to our awesome reports Joe Karl, Riley Karl, Jessie, and Ted! đ¤
Â
Now, letâs turn to Joe from @raveisokemo and âTed from the Topâ with an update on the morning conditions at Okemo!
The morning started off clear at the summit with a stunning inversion. Check our latest Instagram Reel to see. đ Ted hiked to the top with views for miles while Joe got in some chairlift runs at Solitude.
Â
Our reporters noted the summit was more firm and crispy to start the day, but with temps nearing the 30s itâs sure to soften up along with ski traffic. đ§ Todayâs conditions are Okemoâs famous machine-groomed goodness. As skiers and riders rip, expect slightly varying conditions of pushed granular, smooth butter, and crispy spots. Not much of a surprise for the conditions outlook today.
Â
Today's Quick Facts:
đď¸ Trail Count: 121/122
đĄ Lift Count: 17/20
Â
Thereâs snow in the forecast! âď¸ Tomorrowâs weather report looks promising with snow starting at 7 a.m. Our friend, The West River Weather Guy, can share more about what to expect for this upcoming snow event on his post tomorrow. âď¸
Pro Tip: Beat the crowds and head to the Morning Star Triple or the Solitude Express Quad for lower wait times.
There is a USASA Halfpipe Event on Sunday 2/25 for Snowboarding and Freeski! đŁ Our friends at Okemo Mountain School will have several students competing! You can watch the competition in the dedicated viewing areas.
Â
Next week is the U16 States on Chief from Tuesday 2/27 - Friday 3/1. đ Local racers from OMSÂ will also be competing in this competition! There arenât great viewing points for this one though, unless you can spy on them safely from NorâEaster. When you see that Chief is closed, itâs for a good reason with racers training or competing. Cheer on your local racers!! đ
âGet out here and take as many runs as possible.â - Joe Karl
