Believe it or not, Noah has returned for today's snow report. 🎉 Please warmly welcome back my co-owner and everyone's favorite reporter (and not my husband, as so many of you assume, c'mon, can't a girl have a guy bff?!), Noah Schmidt. 👏 He spent the morning taking laps with his dad, Bruce and his fiancée (and my actual bff), Rachel. 💍
In all seriousness, Noah's business, Open Door Vacation Rentals, has had a successful and super busy this winter. I know he misses writing reports for our readers. 📝 Enjoy!
Good afternoon folks, Noah here with an afternoon update. 👋 I haven't been making enough time for skiing lately, so today I made a point to put it on the calendar and get out with my fiancée, Rachel, and my father. 🤝
We got out bright and early, with a little insider help. At 7:40 am it was a balmy 38 degrees in the base area while the summit was stuck in the clouds, just below freezing at 31 degrees. We made our way up to the summit, stopping to see the Sunburst Six First Chair staples, Norm and Janet. 🥇
The snow was firm up top, with a noticeable change as soon as you got out of the fog. The views were amazing as you left the fog and saw the undercast of clouds sitting in the valley. 🌤️

I haven't made it over to SouthFace much this season so we headed down Countdown, Sprint, and Moment's Rest to Cat Nap. 💤 We skied Dream Weaver and Blind Faith. The upper section of Blind Faith was a little spotty but the lower end was a dream, with the snow just softening up it felt great to let your skis run. 🍦
One of the reasons for today's "planned" ski day was that Rachel just picked up some new boots and bindings that she had to test out. The new Step On technology has been on her mind and Alex from Darkside Snowboards hooked her up. 🏂 For the first time ever, a snowboarder was ready before I was after having to buckle my boots at the top of the lift. 😂
Pro Tip: Apres Afternoons today at JG & Clocktower Base!
Next, we headed to Solitude. Heaven's Gate was amazing, per usual, with the lower part of the mountain softening up much faster than the upper end. After a couple of laps we headed over to Sel's Choice for a bump run, nothing better than soft snow in the moguls, am I right? 👊 To cap things off we hopped over to the Halfpipe which was in phenomenal shape. I haven't ridden the pipe in a few weeks and they really have it dialed right now, hats off to the Parks Crew. 👌
If you were out there today, I am sure you had a blast with sunshine peeking through the clouds and warm temps. 💯 Even though we would take another snowstorm, there was still plenty of snow to go around.
